Described as a neo-realist, he has exhibited and won awards throughout the Capital Region and elsewhere in the state. Gary Masline previously was a screenwriter and presently is a lawyer and press spokesman for a New York State commission.
Statement About the Painting:
Gary Masline’s 22x28 oil painting on canvas is called “Lark Street Perspective”, and was commissioned by the Lark Street BID in 1999 to honor Mayor Gerald Jennings at a Champagne on the Park ceremony, when the Mayor was given the painting to exhibit for the next year, after which it returned to the artist. Masline had been allowed by the owner of Justin’s to take reference photos from Justin’s roof to design the piece. The painting’s unique perspective showcases a tableau of Lark Street Victorian building facades, contrasting them with a background of the modern structures of the Governor Rockefeller Empire State Plaza and nearby government buildings.
